来华故事：
我叫Chuttama Promwachara，是长江大学2016级临床医学在读本科生。
我出生在泰国曼谷，在我19岁的时候，我下决心想要来中国留学。因为我的父母都是华裔，所以还没来中国之前我就非常了解中国。特别是中国近20年取得的巨大的经济发展成功和中国大陆960万平方千米的广袤。并且在这片神奇的土地上诞生了多姿多彩的文化和56个少数民族。
在来中国之前，我感到非常紧张害怕的同时也充满了期待向往，因为我从来没有一个人去国外旅行过，更不用说一个人外在独自生活了，尤其是在一个文化和语言都不一样的异国他乡。我也担心我能否在中国交到新朋友，能否适应在中国的新生活。
然而，当我第一次来到荆州的时候，我就被周围的一切新奇和令人兴奋的事物深深吸引了。和所有的一年级学生一样，我们首先住在学校提供的宿舍里。所有的学校工作人员都很照顾我们，帮了我们很大的忙，让我们在异国他乡不感到孤独和无助。
虽然一开始我不太愿意寻求其他人的帮助，但我发现中国当地人非常的热情。初来乍到时我根本不会说中，老师们都对我表现出极大的耐心，尽力去理解我的话。甚至那些我从未见过的陌生人也非常友好，愿意提供帮助。他们也对我的文化和国家感到兴趣满满，这让我感到非常自豪。
中国文化令人着迷，给我留下了深刻的印象。因此我更加渴望了解它，并进一步提高我的中文水平。在这里，我认识了很多来自不同国家的新朋友，比如津巴布韦、赞比亚、加纳、卢旺达、南非、纳米比亚、刚果共和国、巴基斯坦、印度尼西亚和尼泊尔。虽然他们每个人都来自不同的国家，但他们都热情善良，并且对我的到来表示欢迎。在和他们建立友谊的同时，我也了解了很多关于其他不同国家的文化。
在中国，我尝试了很多以前没吃过的新奇食物。由于泰国文化受到了中国文化的部分影响，泰国菜和中国菜之间的差异并没有那么明显。我特别喜欢中国的“麻辣”味道,略不同于我们在泰国的火锅味和辛辣味的程度。我也吃了中国的中秋节传统食物“月饼”。在中国过节的时候，我想到了在泰国，泰国人也庆祝许多中国传统节日，如春节、中秋节和清明节。这让我觉得，东亚文化传承的力量是无与伦比的，尤其是中国的新年，现在即使很多不是东亚文化的国家都在举办春节的庆典。
在中国，我特别喜欢中国的交通系统。与我们的国家相比，尤其是公交车是非常准时的。在外出门时，像我们这样的外国人来说也很容易驾驶“共享单车”“共享电动车”。不过比起公交车，我认为更加厉害的中国速度是“快递”。在我以前的生活中，我从未体验过可以在网上购买的到任何我想买的东西。琳琅满目的网购商品不仅节省了去超市的时间，而且价格往往更便宜。从我下单开始，我可以在4天内收到购买的物品。
长江大学周围的优美的环境营造了轻松的学习氛围。学校和社区周围的树木和鲜花给我们带来了新鲜的空气，从早到晚我都能听到鸟鸣啾啾。学校组织活动使我也有幸参观了荆州周围的许多新地方和景点。
现在，我可以自豪地说，我在中国找到了第二个家，找到了心灵港湾。我在这里体验了未经历过的人生体验，收获了数不尽的人生财富。可以说，我在中国有一种归属感和幸福感。
最后非常感谢长江大学和中国政府给了我一个学习中国生活和文化的机会。
My study life in China
My name is Chuttama Promwachara. I am a fifth year medical undergraduate student at Yangtze University.
I was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1997, and lived my whole life in Thailand until 2016 when I’ve made a decision to come to China to study. I’ve heard so many things about China, as a Thai citizen, I knew a great deal about China, especially in regard to the great development of the economy and vastness of the mainland which includes so many cultures and minority groups. Since my parents are of Chinese heritage, I am also familiar with Chinese culture.
Before coming to China, I was very scared and nervous since I’ve never traveled alone to a foreign country before, let alone living alone independently, especially in a country where the spoken language is Chinese in which I am nowhere fluent at. I am also worried if I will be able to make new friends or adjust to my life in China.
However, when I first arrived in Jingzhou, I was very fascinated by all the new and exciting aspects of my surrounding. Like all the first year students, we were suggested to live in the dormitory provided by the university. All the school staff has taken very good care of us. They help us so much not to let us feel alone and helpless in a foreign country.
Even though at first, I was reluctant to ask them for help, I’ve found the Chinese locals to be very welcoming. Although I cannot speak Chinese at all during my first year. They all have shown me great patience, trying their best to understand my words. Even the strangers whom I’ve never met before, are very friendly and willing to offer help. Most of them also shown great interest in my culture and countries, which makes me felt very proud.
I have found Chinese culture fascinating and impressive. As a result, I was even more eager to learn more about it and to further improve my Chinese skills. Learning Chinese culture and language was a great joy for me. I have met so many kind Chinese teachers, one of them introduced me to Chinese calligraphy and arts, which was very interesting, and I would love to learn more about them if given time. I also greatly enjoyed watching Chinese TV shows and music.
I’ve met so many new friends from many different countries, such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Rwanda, South Africa, Namibia, Republic of the Congo, Pakistan, Indonesian, and Nepal. Although each of them all came from different countries, they were very kind and welcoming to me. As a result, I have learned a great deal about their cultures as well as Chinese.
I’ve tried so many new foods that I’ve never eaten before. Since our Thai culture is partially influenced by Chinese culture, the differences between Thai food and Chinese food are not so extreme. I particularly enjoyed Chinese “麻辣”, which was slightly different from the hotpot we have in Thailand in both taste and the degree of spiciness, and “月饼”, a traditional cake eaten on the Mid-autumn festival. I would like to add that we also celebrate many traditional Chinese festivals in Thailand, such as the Chinese New Year, Mid-autumn festival, and Qingming Festival. However, the greatness is incomparable, especially for the Chinese New Year.
What I most appreciated about China is probably the transportation system. Compared to our country, especially the bus, the transportation system is extremely competent and easy to navigate even to foreigners like us. The peak convenience of the transportation system is probably no other than the delivery, or so called “快递” in Chinese. Never in my life have I experienced a delivery system where I can purchase items online, not only saving us time from going to the supermarket ourselves, the prices are often cheaper, and we are able to receive the purchased items in no more than 4 days.
The environment around the Yangtze University is beautiful and relaxing as well. Many trees and flowers around both the University and the community gave us a breath of fresh air, making the quality of the weather excellent. We can hear birds chipping everywhere from night to morning. I have also got the chance to visit many new places and spots around the university.
Now, I can proudly say that have found home and comfort in China, not different from my own homeland country. I have found great joy in so many new activities here that I have never done before. I could say that I feel a sense of belonging in China.
I would like to express my greatest gratitude for both the Yangtze University and the government of China for giving me a wonderful opportunity to experience life and culture in China.
